Larry Lafayette Kirby

YORKTOWN–Heaven opened their doors for Larry Lafayette Kirby at 1:28 p.m. February 22, 2012. He lost the battle in life and won eternity in paradise. Larry passed peacefully with is family and devoted Hospice at his side.
 
Larry was born in Muncie, IN, December 12, 1947 to his parents, Henry and Mary (McCormick) Kirby. He was a 1965 graduate of Southside High School and went into the United States Army and participated in the Vietnam War. He was a brick layer and has beautiful work in several states. He was also a well known musician and played in several local bands. Larry fought a year and a half battle with strokes and brain cancer, but always kept a great spririt and much faith and will be sorely missed.
 
He left behind his wife and soul mate of 38 years, Netia (McCord) Kirby; six children, Larry L. Kirby Jr. (wife-Melissa) of Selma, Michael Poston (wife-Natashia) of Gig Harbor, WA, Tonya N. Evans (husband-Kevin) of Muncie, Brett L. Kirby of Indianapolis, Amanda S. Kirby of Yorktown, and Amista Kirby; six brothers, Clarence L. McCormick (wife-Judy) of Arcanum, OH, Randall Jett (wife-Bonnie) of Bosier, LA, Michael D. Kirby (wife-Kay) of Cape Coral, FL, Donald M. Kirby (wife-June) of Greenwood, IN, Samuel L. Kirby of Muncie, IN, and Glen Daniel Kirby (wife-Rebecca) of Eaton, IN; four sisters, Sue Jones (husband-Edward) of Cynthiana, KY, Sarah Jett of Anderson, IN, Donna Healy (husband-James) of Anderson, IN, and Kelli Kirby of Anderson, IN; 14 grandchildren, Alexander Poston, Paul Poston, Levi Kirby, Jordan Kirby, Cody Bronnenberg, Mya Evans, Sierra Kirby, Bethanea’ Bronnenberg, Trinity Kirby, Halley Kirby, Elijah Evans, Paige Kirby and J’lon Evans; and one great-grandchild, Asheaya Kirby.
 
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Gaugge Lafayette Kirby; brothers, Gordon Kirby and Harold Kirby; and sisters, Sharon Jett Marilyn Kirby and Katherine Hahn.
 
A celebration of Life will be Saturday 11 a.m. at the Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel, with Pastor Dean Snyder. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery, west of Gaston, with military honors by the Veterans of Delaware County. Friends may call Friday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Larry Kirby to Gant Funeral Home @ 2215 S. Broadway, Yorktown, IN 47396.
