An 18-year old Muncie girl burned to death in a fiery crash Sunday morning on Ind. 67 just west of the Delaware-Madison County line.

Sharon Jett, 3004 S. Pershing Dr., was dead on arrival at St. John’s Hospital, Anderson, after the car she was riding in crashed into two gasoline pumps at Storey’s Truck Stop, one mile east of Chesterfield in Madison County. The accident occurred at 10:40 a.m.

Miss Jett was a lifelong Muncie resident.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirby; five brothers, Clarence McCormick in New Mexico, Randall, Larry, Michael, and Donald Jett, Muncie; three sisters, Sarah, Katherine and Donna Jett, all of Muncie; a half-brother, Samuel Kirby, Muncie; two step-brothers, Gordon and Harold Kirby, both of Muncie; a step-sister, Sue Spears, Knightstown; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edith McCormick, Matthews.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
