Phyllis E Kirby

Phyllis E. Kirby, 69, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning at Blackford Community Hospital in Hartford City.

She was born in Muncie, the daughter of Allen Ray and Blanche Elsie McGriff Chambers, and attended Muncie schools. At one time Mrs. Kirby was employed at Durham Manufacturing and at Westinghouse.

She enjoyed family gatherings, card games, and bingo, and was a wonderful wife and loving mother and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Donald L. Kirby; two sons, David Lee (wife-Bonnie) and David Ray; her daughter, Julie Ann; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; her sister, June Bailey; her brother, Bill Chambers (wife-Mary); and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; six brothers, Charles, Robert, Allen, Jay, Earl, and Eugene Chambers; and two sisters, Josie VanSkyock and Ruby Hines.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tomlinson Cemetery. Rev. Rick Clay will officiate. The family will receive friends at the cemetery an hour prior to the services on Saturday. Parson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
