Thurlene Rhonemus Landis

Thurlene was married to my brother Larry and is the mother of my nephew Larry Jr.

Thurlene Landis, 68, of Parker City, IN, went to be with her Lord, peacefully at 9:15 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 while in the company of family members at her residence.

 Thurlene was born in Muncie, IN on October 23, 1948, a daughter of the late Georgia Pauline (Allen) Rhonemus and Thural Rhonemus.

 She was a 1965 graduate of Muncie Southside High School and the lovely wife of Gregory D. Landis who she happily married on April, 28 1984.

 She was a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene, and in later years a regular attender of True Light Baptist Church in Muncie, IN.

Thurlene was co-owner and operator of Landis Kountry Kitchen in Parker City, IN and she and her father started T & T Concession stand that she later ran with her husband Greg at many local fairs over the years.

She loved cooking, the outdoors, fishing, gardening and anything involving time with her family.

She was known for her love of and talented abilities with quilting. Her family has many precious quilts to remind them of her talent and love of the craft for years to come.

 Thurlene is survived by her husband, Gregory; two daughters, Christy, wife of Gary Hughs, of Eaton, IN, Michelle Tarlton, of Parker City, IN; three sons, Larry Kirby Jr. wife, Melissa, of Selma, IN, Brett Sears, wife Lori, of Parker City, IN, Shane Landis, wife, Heather, of Hotsprings ARK; twelve grandchildren and four (5) great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene, wife of Mick Chaplin, of Alexandria, IN.; and three nephews.

 Thurlene was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Arlene Rhonemus and one grandson, Lukas Sears.

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries, Farmland Chapel, Farmland, IN, with Pastor Dennis Trimbell officiating. Friends are invited to call two hours prior to the funeral from 10-12 at MJS Mortuaries, Farmland Chapel. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Farmland, IN.

 In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries, Farmland Chapel.
